VISA TO VIETNAM
 
Visitors to Vietnam must obtain a visa unless they come from one of the visa exempt countries. Be aware that your passport must be valid for 6 months beyond the last day of your stay in Vietnam and that you must have one blank page left for the visa stamp.
 
1.  Visa exemption:
 
 Vietnamese people that hold foreign passports and foreigners who are their husbands, wives and children are exempt from visa requirements to enter Vietnam and are allowed to stay for not more than 90 days. In order to be granted visa exemption certificates at Vietnamese representative offices abroad, overseas Vietnamese need conditions:
 
+ Foreign-issued permanent residence certificate (P.R.C) with the validity of at least six months since the date of entry.
 
+ Visa exemption paper (V.E.P) is granted by Vietnamese appropriate authorities.
 
Those who expect to stay more than 90 days must apply for visa according to current stipulations before their entry.
 
2. Countries and its citizens do not need Vietnam visa:  
 
Travelers who are under bilateral admission for visa exemption (within ASEAN countries): Thailand (30 days), Indonesia (30 days), Singapore (30 days), Malaysia (30 days), The Philippines (15 days), Laos (30 days), Cambodia (30 days), Brunei Darussalam (14 days), Myanmar (14 days).
 
Travelers who are under Vietnam unilateral admission for visa exemption:

After the Covid- 19 pandemic, the Vietnamese Government has issued a Resolution on visa exemption for citizens (13 countries) of Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Russia, Japan, Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Belarus, Finland.

Citizens of the above countries, when entering Vietnam with a temporary stay of 15 days from the date of entry, regardless of passport type, entry purpose, on the basis of fully meeting the conditions prescribed by Vietnam law.

The policy of visa-free entry to Vietnam for citizens of the above countries is implemented for a period of 3 years, from March 15, 2022, and will be considered for extension in accordance with Vietnamese law.
Clients entry to Vietnam go ahead to immigration both to complete quarantine and immigration procedure with passport ready and return ticket. Airport customs police will stamp 2 checks to passport: 1 stamp at point of entry and the second one that visitors are allowed staying (day of entry plus length of stay allowance).

1. Visa through the Embassy or Consulate of Vietnam in your country.

To apply for a visa, you must fill in a form (1 copy) that you can download from the website of the embassy of your country, 2 recent passport-sized photos (with white background) and your passport. Then, you just have to go to the embassy with all the papers and the money for the visa fee. Fees vary from one country to another.

2. E-visa: only for 1 month, single entry.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the e-visa system, available to citizens of 80 countries, is now in operation again as the country fully reopened to international tourists from March 15, 2022.

An electronic visa (E-visa) is one of visa types issued to foreigners by Vietnamese Immigration Department via electronic system. Vietnam E-visa is valid for maximum of 30 days, single entry. Outside Vietnam foreigners who want to enter Vietnam can personally apply for E-visa or through the inviting/guaranteeing agencies and organizations.
 
E-visa fee is paid via electronic payment gateway as prescribed by the Immigration Department. The fee will not be refunded if the application is refused.

Conditions for being granted e-visa:

Outside Vietnam foreigners.

Holding valid passport.

Not falling into the cases of suspension from entry prescribed in Article 21 of Law on foreigners’ entry into, exit from, transit through, residence in Vietnam.

E-VISA FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

General questions:

1 - Who is eligible for an e-Visa?
Vietnam is currently launching a pilot e-Visa system for citizens from 80 countries.   
 
2 - How long does it take to obtain an e-Visa? 
An e-Visa is processed within 03 working days after the Vietnam Immigration Department receives the completed application and full e-Visa fee. 

3 - How long is an e-Visa valid for?
An e-Visa is single entry and valid for a maximum of 30 days.
 
4 - What is the minimum passport expiry date required to apply for an e-Visa?
According to Vietnam Law, the visa expiry date must be at least 30 days before the passport expiry date. Therefore, an e-Visa expiry date must also be at least 30 days before the passport expiry date.
 
5 - How can I check my e-Visa result?
To check an e-Visa result, follow these steps:

Step 1: Vist the page: https://evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/tra-cuu-ho-so

Step 2: Provide the required information, including registration code, email and date of birth, to check and print your e-Visa result.

* Note: Registration code must be saved in order to check and print e-Visa and No email will be sent regarding e-Visa results.

E - Visa application procedures:

  1. How can I apply to stay in Vietnam for longer than my e-Visa permits?
    After entering Vietnam by e-Visa, you can request an agency/organization/individual in Vietnam to guarantee your stay and apply on your behalf for a new visa at the Vietnam Immigration Department in accordance with Section 1, Article 16 of the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam.
  2. Can a Vietnamese citizen invite or guarantee my stay in Vietnam and apply for an e-Visa on my behalf?
    Vietnamese citizens are not allowed to guarantee a foreigner’s stay in Vietnam with e-Visa. Foreigners must apply for an e-Visa either by themselves or through a guaranteeing agency or organization in Vietnam.
  3. How does an inviting or guaranteeing agency or organization apply for an e-Visa on my behalf?
    Inviting or guaranteeing agencies or organizations must follow these steps:
    Step 1: Apply for an account and electronic signature via Form 03 to sign in.
    Step 2:Provide the required information of the foreign applicant, sign the application with the registered electronic signature and pay the e-Visa fee to complete the procedure.
  4. As an airline representative, how can I search for the e-Visa information of passengers flying to Vietnam?
    You can check passengers’ e-Visa information by the following steps:
    Step 1:Apply for an account via Form 03.
    Step 2:Sign in with the account to check passengers’ e-Visa information.

Completing the e-Visa application:

  1. What photos are required for the application?
    Two photos of the applicant must be uploaded:
    – Portrait photo (4x6cm): Looking straight and without glasses.
    – Passport data page: Full page including photo, personal information and ICAO lines.
  2. What if my name is too long or includes special characters?
    Write your full name as it appears in the ICAO line of your passport data page.
  3. Is it necessary to complete all required information in the application?
    Yes. You must complete all required information to be eligible to receive an e-Visa.

E-Visa fee and payment:

  1. How much is the e-Visa fee?
    The current e-Visa fee is 25USD.
  2. How can I make a payment for my e-Visa
    Payment is made via bank account. To make a payment, follow these steps:
    Step 1: Choose 1 of the 4 payment methods listed on the web page.
    Step 2: Provide the required information and click “Pay” to complete the procedure.
  3. If my e-Visa is refused or unused, will my payment be refunded?
    No. Payments for e-Visa applications are non-refundable.

Entry & exit with an e-Visa:

  1. Which entry & exit checkpoints allow e-Visa holders to enter and exit Vietnam?
    E-Visa holders can enter and exit Vietnam through any checkpoint in 33 international checkpoints.

  2. If I use my e-Visa to enter/exit Vietnam, what do I have to do at the checkpoint?
    E-Visa holders must present the printed e-Visa and valid passport at the checkpoint.
  3. Do I need to enter Vietnam on the exact date specified in my e-Visa application?
    The validity period of your e-Visa begins from the date specified in your approved e-Visa document. You can enter Vietnam on any date within this validity period.
  4. Can I enter Vietnam before or after the validity period specified in my e-Visa? 
    No. You cannot enter Vietnam before or after the validity period specified in your e-Visa.
  5. What if I want to enter Vietnam before my e-Visa validity period?
    You must complete a new e-Visa application. The previous e-Visa application will be cancelled once the new e-Visa is issued.

3. Visa on arrival  (V.O.A).
 
Getting visa in your home country can be time consuming and expensive. Rickshaw Travel Indochina can help you to arrange “visa approval” which is required to obtain the visa upon arrival.
 
The procedure is as follows:
 
Step 1: Passport details (full name, date of birth, nationality, passport number, date of issue, etc.) must be sent to us no later than 14 working days before your departure to Vietnam.
 
Step 2: This information is sent to the Immigration Department for the visa approval letter. The time limit to obtain this leter is 4 working days for a normal tourist visa or 24 hours for an urgent procedure with an added surcharge applied.
 
Step 3: We send you by email the approval letter and the visa application form (NA1). You will fill in each a (1) form NA1 and attach a recent passport-sized  photo on the form. Photocopy of photo is not accepted. You also need to prepare the some bank notes in US Dollars to pay visa stamp fee.
Attention: It is very important to use the same passport number that you provide us and on the form of the visa request.
 
Step 4: When you check-in at the departure airport, you will have to show a copy of the visa approval letter. Without this letter, the airline will refuse you boarding. On arrival in Vietnam, before  going  through  passport  control,  you proceed  to  the  Visa  on  Arrival  (VOA) counter where you show the mentioned documents (visa approval letter, completed visa application form with attached photo, passport and cash) to get visa stamped.
 
Remarks:
 
+ It is important to indicate clearly the specific airport in Vietnam where people will get their visa including: airline, time, date, number of the arrival flight.
 
+ If a child is present on the passport of its parents, the child won’t need it to fill in his own form and have any fee, but it is still necessary to give all the information about him/her in order to apply for a visa authorization.
 
+ V.O.A takes 20 minutes – 2 hours depending on how busy the airport is at that time.
 
+ V.I.P services: You can ask for help from our staff (pre-arranged): our staff will wait for you at the airport within the immigration area with a board showing your name and will take care of the whole process with the immigration service. You won’t queue and will take a private way to the luggage belt where you will be able to collect your luggage. Time: about 5-10 minutes.
 
Special cases: “sensitive nationalities”.
 
For citizens of “sensitive” nationalities, example: Iran; Iraq; Sri-Lanka; Kenya; Turkey; Bangladesh; Jordan; Pakistan; Syria; Togo; Saudi Arabia; Samoa; Nigeria; Lebanon; Yemen; Ecuador, Turkish, Banglades…: Same procedure as “normal” nationalities but instead of providing only the information on the passenger’s passport, the travellers must also have below document to obtain the visa approval letter:
 
+ A scan of the passport
 
+ Confirmation of hotels booking during the entire stay.
 
+ Confirmation of international and domestic airline tickets for the entire trip.
 
+ The tour program
 
+ Guarantee document by the travel agency.
